TE WAIORA - CONTINUING THE LEGACY.

Tucked away in the peaceful countryside of Hororātā, Te Waiora House has long been a place of rest, healing, and spiritual renewal. For years, it’s been a sanctuary for people needing to pause, breathe deeply, and reconnect with God. Now, it begins a new chapter—with Baptist Resources stepping in to help carry the vision forward.

Te Waiora House isn’t your typical retreat centre. It was originally established with a clear purpose: to offer a quiet, Christ-centred space where individuals and small groups could come for retreat, restoration, and time with God. The heart behind it has always been about serving people—especially those in Christian leadership or ministry, and anyone simply needing space to rest and heal.

Recently, the trust that stewarded Te Waiora made the generous and prayerful decision to gift the property to Baptist Resources. This wasn’t a move made lightly—it came out of deep conversations, shared values, and a mutual desire to see the work continue and grow. Baptist Resources is humbled and excited to receive such a taonga. We recognise the faith, love, and hard work that’s gone into Te Waiora over the years and are committed to honouring that legacy. The original mission—providing a place where people can experience Christ’s love, deep rest, healing, and restoration—remains at the core of what we want to continue doing.

Looking ahead, Baptist Resources plans to care for and develop Te Waiora House so it may serve even more people. Part of that means working toward long-term sustainability. We’d love to see Te Waiora not only thrive as a retreat space but grow in its ability to support itself, so it can continue serving others well into the future.

This could look like making the space available for more small groups, workshops, or quiet personal retreats. We’re exploring how to do this in a way that stays true to the heart of Te Waiora: restful, welcoming, and deeply rooted in Christ.

This next season is about building on strong foundations. We're deeply thankful to those who have nurtured Te Waiora to this point, and we’re prayerful and hopeful about what God will do next.
